After days of constant rain storms, the Chippewa River flooded its banks early Friday morning. City officials started preparing for the worst Friday afternoon by placing sandbags over all manholes and sewer drains all along First and Second avenues.
Residents are urged to stay away from the river and take caution said city officials. UW-Eau Claire Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Patricia A. Kleine sent an email to all Eau Claire students, faculty and staff explaining the situation, and reassuring everyone that emergency personnel are monitoring the river and will notify everyone via email and on the university home page of any further developments.
