The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is group dedicated to increasing news coverage about the environment and environmental issues.
SEJ was founded in 1990 by a group of reports, editors, and producers from print, radio, and broadcast medias. The purpose of SEJ is to give journalists whose job it is to report on the environment a support system.
The SEJ mission statement says:
The mission of the Society of Environmental Journalists is to strengthen the quality, reach and viability of journalism across all media to advance public understanding of environmental issues.
To do this, the SEJ provides conferences, daily, quarterly, and biweekly publications, and a mentoring program for their members.
Membership is open to working journalists, journalism students, and faculty.
